Are You Ready for Some Online College Prep
AIU, Capella University, Colleges, DeVry University, GED, Kaplan University, Universities, University of Phoenix, Walden University, online college prep, regionally accredited
Before you fill out a PIF (Personal Information Form) requesting information from an online college or university, do a little online college prep.
To the online college, your requesting information means that you are ready to start school – today if possible. You will get calls, dozens of calls, from a number of schools.
Why? Because if you filled out the PIF at any place other than the specific school you want to attend, your information is being sold to dozens of online universities. And you were the one who put his or her phone number on the form.
For example, if you requested information on an IT program, your personal information will be sold to every school with a computer degree even remotely related to what you are interested in.
Don’t PIF an info request unless:
1.you have a High School Diploma or GED
2. you are ready to begin classes now – when the next session begins – not next year
3.you have at least $100 in a checking account or available on a credit card to make a small investment in your education
4.if you are interested in federal student aid from the U.S. Department of Education to finance your degree, you have your 2007 income tax form (1040) and your driver’s license handy
5.if you are single, under 25, and have no children, you have your parents and their 1040 available to fill out their part of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
6.you know what online degree program you wish to apply for – and why
Online education is not for everyone. You need to be self-directed, self-motivated, and have good time management skills.
If you know you need to earn a certain degree to be able to achieve a specific job or career, your chances of success with online college and university degree goes way up.
If you have some vague notion that you just want a degree to “better yourself”, try your local community college where professors and other students can stroke your ego.
But if you are serious about a degree, online colleges and universities provide the best and fastest way to achieve your dreams and advance your career. Make the best use of online college prep time before you speak to any admissions advisors.
